LIA Club launch at St Augustine’s
On May 3, 2024, we took a bold step toward empowering girls in underserved communities by launching the LIA Club at St. Augustine’s JHS in Akwatia Line, Kumasi. This exciting milestone marked the beginning of a journey to inspire, educate, and uplift young girls through mentorship and skill-building workshops.
A Strong Start
The first LIA Club meeting welcomed approximately 40 girls from upper primary, JHS 1, and JHS 2. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were a clear sign that this initiative was much needed. In the weeks following, the club’s membership grew, averaging 55 girls per session, including students from JHS 3.
The LIA Club meets every two weeks, offering interactive workshops that address key issues affecting girls. Sessions cover personal development, leadership, and essential life skills, creating a safe and supportive environment where members can learn, share, and grow.
Why This Matters?
Launching the club has strengthened our connection with the school and its surrounding community. We’ve seen firsthand how meaningful engagement can ignite potential and transform lives. By fostering these relationships, we’re laying the groundwork for impactful future programs, including a much-anticipated retreat designed specifically to empower our club members to develop dignified aspirations.
Looking Ahead
The response so far has been overwhelmingly positive, reaffirming our commitment to expanding this initiative. We’re excited about the journey ahead and look forward to seeing how the LIA Club continues to empower and inspire girls at St. Augustine’s JHS.
Stay connected for updates as we share stories of growth, learning, and transformation from our club members. Together, we are building a brighter future—one girl at a time.
